If you are an employer covered under the New Jersey Unemployment Compensation Law your employees are covered by Family Leave Insurance.

  • Employers should review this information to understand their obligations under this new law.
  • Employees can review this information to understand the payroll deduction that will appear on their check beginning January 1, 2009.

  • New Jersey’s Family Leave Insurance Law, commonly known as “NJ Paid Family Leave,” takes effect January 1, 2009.  The law applies to all private and governmental employers subject to the Unemployment Compensation Law.

    Beginning July 1, 2009, the law will provide up to six weeks of family leave insurance benefits to covered individuals to bond with a newborn or newly adopted child, or to care for a child, spouse, domestic partner, civil union partner or parent with a serious health condition.
